The Hedgehog and the Red Scarf

Hattie the hedgehog wore a red scarf that her grandmother had knitted. It kept her warm on chilly mornings and made every walk feel special.

Hattie, la eriza, llevaba una bufanda roja que le había tejido su abuela. La abrigaba en las mañanas frías y hacía que cada paseo fuera especial.

One windy day, the scarf slipped from her neck and caught on a high branch. Hattie stretched and jumped, but her little paws could not reach it. She sat beneath the tree, wondering what to do.

Un día de viento, la bufanda se le escapó del cuello y quedó atrapada en una rama alta. Hattie se estiró y saltó, pero sus patitas no alcanzaban. Se sentó bajo el árbol sin saber qué hacer.

A robin landed nearby. “Would you like some help?” he asked. Hattie nodded. The robin flew up, tugged at one loose end, and sent the scarf floating gently down.

“Thank you,” said Hattie as she wrapped it around her neck. She noticed a few red threads hanging from the edge. “Could you use these for your nest?”

The robin carried the threads into the tree. That evening, Hattie and her new friend were both warm in their own little homes.
